Let Her Spirit, Passion and Determination Guide Us
It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Ms. Bonnie Mitsui on May 11, 2013. Ms. Mitsui was a benefactor with unwavering support of Waldorf education and our school in particular. This support led to the generous decision to share her Meshewa Farm
estate with the children of the Cincinnati Waldorf School. She believed that Waldorf education resulted in resilient, responsible, vigorous and vital young men and women. To that end, she gave us unlimited access to an amazingly beautiful and rich outdoor environment where our children and our community are allowed to explore, discover, learn and grow as individuals and as a community.Bonnie Mitsui was buried at Turner Farm
on a glorious, sunny spring day on Tuesday, May 14, 2013. Her funeral procession included family and friends, as well as her beloved pets and farm animals, as it took a final turn around the land that she loved and shared with us all. Our community lined the Meshewa driveway to pay their respects as the horse-drawn wagon passed; our singing surrounded the procession with respect and thanks. It was a moving moment for all and an expression of life that Bonnie would have loved and appreciated – simple, heartfelt and beautiful.
Ms. Mitsui is buried under a shade tree overlooking her pond at Turner Farm. Just as she kept an open house in life, we are welcome to visit her final resting place at any time. Please visit, bring a colorful, homegrown bouquet and sit in a peaceful place for a while.
Thanks to all in the CWS community who came and honored the work and generosity of Ms. Mitsui. Thanks especially to the children; their voices reminded us all of the intention of Bonnie’s vision for the Cincinnati Waldorf School. Surely their song brought a smile to her soul.
