Governance


The Cincinnati Waldorf School prides itself on a threefold method of governance comprised of the College of Teachers, the Board of Trustees and the Administrative Team.  The Head of the College of Teachers, the Chair of the Board of Trustees and the Administrative Team Leader meet regularly.

College of Teachers

The College of Teachers is composed of Cincinnati Waldorf School faculty that consciously hold the larger pedagogical picture of the school. This College works out of a consensus decision-making process and meets weekly.

The College of Teachers encourages direct communication throughout the school community. If a parent has a program question or wishes to discuss a concern in the class, the first person to approach is the Class Teacher or the Subject Teacher. If an initial discussion is unsatisfactory, or if a parent is reluctant to address the teacher directly, the teacher’s mentor may be asked to participate. If the question or concern still remains unresolved or is of a more serious nature, it may be referred to the Professional Development Committee and College.

Board Of Trustees

The Cincinnati Waldorf School Board of Trustees is the legally recognized entity responsible for school activities. The Board is responsible for the financial health, safe operation and general oversight of the guidelines and regulations of the organization. The major responsibilities of the Board of Trustees are:

  • Determine the Organization’s Mission and Purpose
  • Select the Administrative Team Leader
  • Support the Administrator and Faculty Chairs and Review their Performance
  • Ensure Effective Organizational Planning
  • Ensure Adequate Resources
  • Manage Resources Effectively
  • Determine and Monitor the Organization’s Programs and Services
  • Enhance the Organization’s Public Image
  • Serve as a Court of Appeal
  • Assess Its Own Performance

Nominations for new members are considered each year. Terms are two years and new members are selected annually. Board Bylaws are available in the school office. The Board meets once per month and all community members are welcome to attend Board meetings. Board meeting minutes are also available in the office. Administrative Team

The Administrative Team is composed of the Administrative Team Leader, Enrollment Director, Business Manager, Finance Manager, Office Coordinator, Development Director, and Facilities Manager.  The Administrative Team Leader can be a family’s first point of contact when there is a question or concern. Our Administrative Team Leader, like all administrative members, will guide our families toward finding the information they seek.
