The Cincinnati Waldorf School is committed to seeking a diversity of backgrounds and incomes within its student body and offers a tuition assistance program to help accomplish this goal. Awards are made to students whose families qualify for assistance on the basis of financial need. In order to fairly determine a family’s financial need, the school uses a needs-analysis program administered by FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment Service. Total income, assets, number of dependents, cost of educating all children in fee-charging institutions, extraordinary expenses, and retirement needs are all taken into consideration. The computation tables used by FACTS reflect need criteria based on a “modest standard of living” as defined by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The school can meet only a portion of a family’s need as calculated by FACTS. In addition, the school cannot offer tuition assistance to every accepted student who qualifies for assistance.

The primary responsibility for financing a student’s independent education rests with the family. Because the demand for tuition assistance is high, families are advised to seek additional resources prior to applying to the tuition assistance program. The Tuition Assistance Committee’s decisions are influenced by availability of funds, the number of applications, the needs of specific classes, and overall need. CWS considers tuition assistance requests from returning students first. Priority is given to currently enrolled grade school students, then kindergarten and nursery students, before new families are considered. Consequently, funds are not available to offer tuition assistance to every newly accepted student who qualifies for assistance.

The instructions and forms for tuition assistance for the 2019-2020 school year are available for downloading and printing at the bottom of this page. Please follow the instructions carefully.

Returning families must submit the online application by January 15th of each school year.
