State of the School - Jan. 29th, 6:00 - 7:30pm

It is that time of year again when we invite parents to come to the annual State of the School presentation.

What is State of the School?

We're glad that you asked! State of the School is a time for our parents to hear from Board Members and Administrative Faculty on the business and happenings of our amazing school. You will hear about the work of our Board, how we are progressing with our Strategic Plan, how we are doing financially, and so much more. Even though this all could sound pretty dry and boring, attendees of past State of the School presentations tend to find them very inspiring and heartwarming.

Please plan to join us on Monday, January 29th from 6:00-7:30 pm. This is an adult only event. Babes in arms always welcome. All parents/guardians at CWS are invited to attend.

Announcement: Erin Spinney will be the 1st Grade teacher for the 2024-2025 school year!

The CWS College is pleased to announce that Ms. Erin Spinney will be the next First Grade teacher at the Cincinnati Waldorf School. You most likely know of Ms. Spinney since she has been teaching at our school since 2022 and is currently the Eighth Grade teacher at CWS. Erin found the Cincinnati Waldorf School while pursuing her Master’s Degree in Middle Grades Education from Northern Kentucky University.

As a former naturalist and environmental educator, she was intrigued by Waldorf pedagogy and the integrative and holistic approach that honors the students as unique and creative individuals. After her experience with public schools, Erin began to research more about Waldorf education. When she realized that the main principles of her own career and educational journey - human relationships, social change through education, collaboration, access and diversity in the community, and honoring the holistic needs of one’s being - were also strong points of focus in the Waldorf community, she believed teaching at the Cincinnati Waldorf School was her calling.

Erin enjoys hiking with her family, exploring new places, dancing (at the gym and in the rain), perusing bookstores, sipping coffee on her back deck, eating blueberries off the bush, and all the little things life has to offer.

More Fun Facts:

  • Erin previously taught at the Cincinnati Nature Center for five years as a preschool teacher and outdoor educator/naturalist to school groups.

  • Her youngest daughter attends preschool at the Cincinnati Waldorf School.

  • Erin was a former gymnastics coach, takes pride that she can still do a tumbling series, and loves to do AcroYoga today.

  • Erin plans to travel to Europe this summer with her son before he leaves for St. Olaf College in the fall.

We are excited for Erin and for the upcoming First Grade class.

Sincerely,

The CWS College

Developmental Stages of Childhood:

What to Expect at 6,9,12, and 15

The discussion will also focus on how parents can recognize and support these developmental changes in their children at home. Be sure to come and bring your questions! This event will take place in the NatureTots Room.
