Two weeks ago our Seniors joined other seniors from other Waldorf schools across the country to study Zoology on Hermit Island in Maine. This unique adventure combines phenomenological study of invertebrate zoology—part of the twelfth grade Waldorf curriculum—with marine-based science labs and artistic activities.
"We could not have asked for a more perfect week even with the unforeseen events. The weather was fantastic ,which made the drawings, paintings, and people more lively. The tidepools were incredible. While certain locations proved to be a bit treacherous, that allowed all of us to grow out of our fears. The wildlife, inside and outside the tidepools, were active and allowed for a few funny stories with this class. The lessons and teachers were awe-inspiring, and we can't wait to see them all again next year!"
~ Mrs. Dani Holtz and Ms. Lydia Kelley
A pictorial canvas of events! (How many creatures can you spot who made their way into and around camp?)
The high schoolers also captured the island in these beautiful watercolor paintings.

It’s so inspiring to see CWHS seniors traveling to Maine to study marine biology—what an amazing hands-on learning opportunity! Educational trips like these really show how travel can shape experiences. On a different note, planning journeys closer to home is just as rewarding, and finding the right RV Park in Midland, TX can make family adventures even more memorable.
